Bundi to Chittorgarh

Has been on my list for a long time. I connect to Mirabai, by namesake, inspirer for life. A queen, she left her palace to sing and dance with the saints. Her poems are still sung in the temples and are popular even today. The fort itself is huge, one of the few you can drive your car around… and is full of places…including the ledge where hunds of women flung themselves down to avoid the muslim invaders.

MIRAS PALACE and temple…

Looking at the place she stayed in, crumbling now, but I could feel how stifling it must have been for her, to live in this huge prison.

The temple she prayed at is still being worshipped, and the atmosphere is sooo serene. How badly we do tourism in India I thought. How ideal it would have been to get cds of her songs, poems she wrote, etc etc.
